ER Trip

This weekend was no fun for the entire Farnum household. Elliot came down with a wicked stomach virus on Wednesday night and we were all sick with it over the weekend. The poor guy was still sick today and did not want to drink any fluids. So at the advice of his pediatrician, we took him to the emergency room where he was given an IV - which he did not like one bit. All in all the experience wasn't too terrible. Once the IV was in, Elliot calmed down and watched TV. After it getting the drip for an hour he was rewarded with a popsicle - which he liked A LOT! As you can see he also enjoyed playing with my sun glasses, in a pinch they are always a hit.

He seemed to perk up quite a bit at the hospital and is sleeping soundly in his bed as I type. Sorry for the picture quality all I had at the hospital was my camera phone.

President's Day with Daddy

Oh, how the tables have turned. Prez Day was never a holiday for Daddy and always a day off for Mommy. Now Daddy is on extended (hopefully temporary) holiday and Mommy actually had to go to work. Elliot asked Daddy to go to the playground. It was cold and Daddy wasn't sure he (not Elliot) could handle the elements. Elliot dragged Daddy out of bed (where it is warm) and watched while Daddy prepared to brave the weather.

We hit the empty playground. Not ten minutes and the place was packed. Elliot is a true visionary, children follow. He played on the big wood truck while Daddy rested. Elliot then played on the little plastic slide while Daddy again rested. Last he played under the wood triangle thing while Daddy looked on. Daddy got hungry so he forced Elliot to leave literally kicking and screaming. Then Elliot rested taking a nap on the stroller ride home. All in all, Daddy would do it again if someone twisted his arm. Happy President's Day.

Be My Valentine

Happy Valentine's Day everyone! Elliot thanks Mimsey, Grandad, Grammy, Papa, and Aunt Stacey for his cards and presents.

Elliot started kicked off the holiday yesterday with a party at daycare. Elliot got Valentines from his best buddies and a cute little stuffed dog from his teachers.

This morning our friend Andrea came over to watch Elliot while Mommy and Daddy ran the I heart tree (forest hill) 5k. Daddy finished the race in 28 minutes and Mommy finished in 31 minutes. It was a very hilly course and a cold morning. Mommy and daddy stayed motivated thanks to Elliot and Andrea. They met us at several points on the course and cheered us on. Elliot was confused as to why Mommy and Daddy kept running by and apparently got a little upset each time. But he didn't stay sad for long, as there were lots of people, dogs, and kids in strollers to watch run and walk.

Andrea, thanks again for your help this morning!

After the run Mommy, Daddy and Elliot went to Joe's Inn for breakfast. Elliot was a very good boy throughout breakfast and only attempted to escape from the high chair once. After such an exciting morning Elliot was ready for a nap. I am sure that when he gets up in about an hour he'll be ready for more Valentine's Day fun!

Happy Days

This has been a busy week - which started last weekend. Thus the lateness of this post. On Saturday Elliot ate a big lunch in preparation for lots of activities at his friend David's second birthday party. Check out those fork using skills! Mommy didn't get many pictures at the party because she saw lots of her friends at the party too. I did get a few shots of Elliot playing with David's train table. Elliot likes the choo-choos.

On Sunday Mimsey came to town to spend time with Mommy and Elliot. After a nice long nap for Elliot (a nice long lunch for Mommy and Mimsey) we all set off for Maymont. Elliot is always fascinated by the animals. He especially liked the cows. It was a beautiful day and we had lots of fun exploring the grounds and spending time with Mimsey.
