Run Mommy, Run!

Elliot was a Monument 10K spectator again this year, but instead of cheering with Mommy he cheered for me. More than 32,000 people ran/walked the race and 50,000 watched! I had a great time running with a group of friends that included Elliot's God Mother, Tasha. Elliot and Daddy were wonderful fans and cheered us on at mile marker 1 and at the finish line. I finished the race in 64 minutes (my gaol was 65 min.) and can't wait for Elliot to be able to run with me someday.

18 Months

On Thursday March 19th, Elliot had his 18 Month Check-up. Our little man is right on track. He:

- is 33 1/2 inches tall (90th percentile)
- weighs 25.3 pounds (50th percentile)
- and his head has a circumference of 19 inches (normal)

Elliot continues to learn new things daily including words like apple. He also knows the sounds many animals make including cows, sheep, ducks, bears, lions, monkeys, and bees.

Double Booked

Elliot was double booked for social events this morning! We had play group from 10-12 and a birthday party that started at 11:30. Thankfully both were within walking distance of our house so Elliot was able to attend both. I was so busy chatting with the other mommies at playgroup that I forgot to take photos. To make up for it I took lots of pictures at our friend Ned's 4th birthday. Both outings were lots of fun and as a result someone may be a little over stimulated. As I type Brian is trying (somewhat unsuccessfully) to get him to take a nap.

Rain, Rain Go Away

It was a very rainy weekend in Richmond. Elliot, Mommy and Daddy tried to make the best of our time indoors, but after a while we had run out of puzzles to solve (Elliot's new favorite thing), papers to read, and shows to watch. So on Sunday afternoon Mommy and Elliot braved the rain and took a little trip to the Maymont Nature Center where we had lots of fun looking at fish and playing with the interactive displays. Hopefully next weekend will be a bit dryer.

A Magical Day

After the most snow we've seen in Richmond in 5 years, we had a surprisingly warm weekend with temps in the high 70s! The snow was fun, but we were all glad to see it go. We took full advantage of the warm weather on Saturday. While Brian cleaned out and washed hi car, Mommy and Elliot took a long walk and stopped at the playground along the way. Elliot is a super star on the big slide. He knows just what to do and squeals with delight all the way down. The next time we go I promise to capture his sliding skills on video.

After our time outside, lunch, and naps (for Elliot and Brian); we packed up the car and headed down the road to Williamsburg to see Mimsey and Grandad-Cliff. That night we had a nice dinner and little birthday celebration for Mimsey. Elliot was tuckered out and went to bed without incident. On Sunday morning Elliot and Mimsey went for a long walk while Mommy went for a long run. On Sunday afternoon we all headed up to the Two Rivers Country Club for a pizza lunch and magic show. Elliot LOVED the pasta, pizza, and cookie selection and ate a LOT! He also really seemed to like the magic show, which was quite entertaining. Daddy even got called on to participate.

After a nap (which Elliot took reluctantly) we headed back to Richmond where we discovered daffodils blooming in our front yard. I guess its officially spring.

Snow Day

This weekend was MUCH better than last weekend. Although the weather was cold, rainy, and then snowy for most of it, we had a great time. On Saturday we all took a trip to the grocery store and came home with ingredients to make cookies. Elliot and Daddy made some yummy chocolate chip cookies which we all really like. Yesterday Elliot and I saw our friends Ada, Clare, Cakki and David. Its so fun to watch the kids play together and it was a nice diversion on a very rainy day. By 5 PM the rain had turned to snow and boy did it snow! We woke up this morning to about 6 inches. That's the most snow Richmond has seen in a LONG time.

We all had the day off so we spent it sledding in forest hill park, playing outside, building a fort in the living room, watching a movie (Wall-E), drinking hot chocolate, and napping. It was so much fun to spend the day together! Elliot was a little unsure of the snow at first but quickly decided it was fun stuff. It is so beautiful, hopefully it will stick around for at least a couple of days.
