A Jedi and Pony Celebrate Halloween

Mommy loves Halloween so there was no shortage of Halloween festivities at the Farnum House. We got into the Spirit with a backyard party the weekend before Halloween. We carved pumpkins, ate chili and s'mores, and had a great time hanging out with friends. All of the kids came in costume and they were all adorable. Beatrice was Rainbow Dash, one of her favorite My Little Ponies. Elliot was a Jedi Knight. I made both of their costumes, with their input of course.

Elliot had a Halloween parade and party at school. It was his turn to be line leader. He was very excited about this.

On Halloween night we had a bunch of neighbors over for a little pre-trick or treating gathering. The kids were beyond excited, and there were a lot of them, so it was difficult to get a good picture.

Elliot carved his own pumpkin this year (on the left) Bea drew her own pumpkin and Juliana carved it. I was very proud of my little pumpkin carvers.

At the end of the night we counted our loot then went straight to bed. I think we have enough candy to last us till next Halloween.

A Walk in the Park

On day in mid-September we took the kids for a long walk through Wheaton Regional park. Brian ran to the park and met us there. We had fun exploring the trails in the woods, riding the carousel and train, and playing on the huge playground. Afterward we went to a great Korean BBQ place nearby. It had an indoor koi pond which kept the kids distracted while we waited for our food. Elliot tried lots of new food. Bea ate rice noodles.

My failed attempt at a nice picture with Mommy.
squirmy kids!

Six !!!

Wow! Has it really been nearly three moths since I've posted. We've had a fun filled fall so far. We kicked off with the celebration of Elliot's 6th birthday. I still can't believe he's a bus riding, school going, lego playing six year old. He is such a great kid! We celebrated his 6th birthday with a Lego Starwars party. These are two of his absolute favorite things. We had about 12 kids at our house - most 5 year old boys to celebrate. I made all kinds of decorations and party games to go with the theme.

I raided his legos to make this. At first he was mad, but then when he saw what it was he was  very happy with my creation.

note the pool noodle light sabers. The kids loved these.

our friend elsa really liked her Princess Leah mask

Rain nearly cut the party short, but a episode of Lego Star Wars saved the day.

Kindergarten!

I can't believe my baby is in kindergarten! Elliot had a great first day of school. He had a chance to visit the school and meet his teacher last week so I am sure that helped. The most exciting part of the day was catching the bus at the bus stop. I was very proud, but a little teary when he boarded the bus. He did great and had a great first day. He told me the teacher asked everyone how they felt about being at school. Elliot reported that he was the only person to say "not sure." I asked him what his answer would be if she asked again he said, "very happy."

By Senior year this shirt should fit perfectly

Bea was being a little fussy.
