Packs Pay a Visit

Lindsay and John came though Richmond last night on their way from Charlottesville to DC. It was great to spend the afternoon with them and their sweet dogs, Marley and Teedo. Elliot was a little nervous about the big dogs at first but warmed up to them and his aunt and uncle. Thanks for making a stop in Richmond - we loved seeing you!

Can you say Egg?

While Daddy was on a golfing adventure (playing and watching) Elliot and I spent the weekend in Williamsburg. Elliot and I both were not feeling tip top on Friday and Saturday (although you can't really tell by the pictures of Elliot at the playground) so it was nice to have Mimsey's help. We had a lovely Easter weekend that included a trip to a really cool park that had a huge slide; lots of Easter presents; Easter service in the court yard of Bruton Parish Church; and an afternoon of hunting eggs and playing outside.

No fear here! Elliot went down the slide at least 10 times.

Elliot was pretty excited about his Easter basket - thanks Grammy, Mimsey, Aunt Lindsay and Uncle John for all of the great gifts!

Church wiped Elliot out! After resting and lunching he was ready to hunt for eggs. He kept saying "ball" as he spotted eggs. I kept saying, "Elliot that's an egg, can you say egg." He looked at me like I was crazy.

Elliot had the Egg hunt figured out in no time and wanted "more" so I re-hid the eggs a few times to extend the hunt.

It wouldn't be Easter without at least one piece of candy. Much to Elliot's delight, I gave him a chocolate duck. I let him eat the head then quickly packed it away. I think he had enough sugar for the week!

Although Elliot was pretty well behaved at Mimsey's house there was one thing he could not resist - the Easter Tree. He had lots of fun taking all of the "grass" out of the pot and kept trying to play with all of the eggs.

Go, Go, Go!

This weekend was a busy one! We were on the go first thing Friday morning and didn’t really stop moving until Sunday evening. On Friday morning I headed up to Alexandria for a business meeting with a co-worker. A few hours later, Elliot and Brian hit the road and met up with Frank in Old Town Alexandria. I followed at about 1:30 PM and we all enjoyed a nice lunch and a chance to catch up with Frank. At about 2:30 we were on our way again to pay a visit to Mom-Mom, Elliot’s Great Grandmother, at her home in Silver Spring, MD. We had a nice visit and managed to keep Elliot from destroying the many breakable figurines in her living room. After our visit with Mom-Mom we headed down I-495 to see the Rowan Family (Matt, Claire, Will-3 and Andrew-10 mo.) in Fairfax. Matt and I grew up across the street from each other. It was surreal to see him with two kids and to watch OUR kids play together. We had a lovely visit with the Rowans and Elliot had fun playing with his new friends.

(Attempt at a group photo L to R: Dave, Evan B, Michael, Evan M, Matthew, Karen, Elliot, and Me)

On Saturday morning we hit the road again for our next stop, the Moyer household (Karen, Don, Evan-2 and Mathew- 4 mo.) in Columbia MD. Karen went to grad school with Brian in CA. The Moyer family is moving back to CA so the East Coast grad school friends made their way to MD for a little weekend gathering and send off. In addition to the Farnum’s, Loida & Keith Lewinter and the Berwick Family (Dave, Monica, Evan -2, and Michael-6 mo.) were also visiting. Elliot was in awe of the big boys and in love with Evan’s train sets. We all had a great time catching up! Elliot slept surprisingly well on an aero bed on the floor and ate at the big kids table for every meal. The only time he got upset was when I held Michael or Mathew. As soon as I put a baby down he wanted to be held and became very clingy.

On Sunday we said our good-byes and were off again, this time to D.C. for a quick stop at the Haugen’s (Nick, Caitlin, and Gus – 13 mo.). Caitlin made a lovely lunch that included Elliot’s favorite, Mac and Cheese! Although it was a brief stop, it was great to catch up with the Haugen Family. Gus has gotten so big and is such a cutie!

Sunday afternoon traffic made for a long ride home and long nap for Elliot. After a snack and a little rest, Elliot and I made our way to the park to enjoy the sunshine and stretch our legs a bit. Elliot walked all the way to the park (5 blocks) and back! He zipped down the slide at least ten times and enjoyed watching the big kids play on the monkey bars. After such a busy action packed weekend we all went to bed early and slept soundly. Next weekend we’ll be on the go again. Daddy is headed to SC to golf and watch golf, and Elliot and I are headed to Mimsey and Cliff’s for the Easter holiday.
