Moving to a Gated Community

Well actually we aren't moving anywhere, but we are going to be living in a gated community... after we install baby gates this weekend. Last night Elliot discovered the stairs and he immediately figured out how to climb them. I was there of course - with a hand on him, as he proceeded to climb up four steps! He is going to keep us on our toes.

Little Explorer

We spent the weekend at Mimsey and Granddad Cliff's House. It was lots of fun and now that Elliot is a very proficient crawler, he wanted to explore everything. He loved watching and chasing after Rosi (who really seemed to like Elliot), and he was fascinated by the pond in the backyard.

First Picnic

On Sunday our friends Audrey, Sam and Allie (baby) accompanied us to the second concert of the summer in Forest Hill Park. While the babies rolled around and tried to eat grass, the grown-ups enjoyed a yummy picnic dinner and the surf rock sounds of the Cashmere Jungle Lords. The band wasn't the best, but the scene was. There were lots of families, babies (we got to hang out with our little friend Martin), balloons, dogs, and bright colored blankets everywhere. Even though he was pretty sleepy, Elliot had a good time - as did Mommy and Daddy.

Off to the Races

Yesterday Brian introduced his son to perhaps his second favorite pass time after golf, horse racing. We had a BBQ to go to over by Colonial Downs so we took a little detour en route and watched a couple of races. Brian won big on the first race ($600)! Elliot and I were very proud. Elliot enjoyed watching all of the people and couldn't take his eyes off the horses. We tried to get a picture of him in front of the horses, but he would not turn around to look at the camera. We lost our bets on the other 3 races we watched, but still came out way ahead and today we are going to use our winnings buy an ottoman.

Tonight we are going to watch a concert in Forest Hill Park with our friends Audrey and Sam and their daughter Allie...more pics to come.

All Grown Up

We had another busy weekend. On Saturday we went to the farmer's market, checked out several garage sales in the neighborhood (I bought Elliot 2 cute board books and a little truck that makes noise when you push it), met up with Mommy's friend Ashley for lunch, then went to a neighborhood cook out for dinner. Elliot was quite the hit with the 1o year old girls. They all took turns holing him (which he seemed to really enjoy). We are keeping our eyes out for good baby sitters in the making.

Today we didn't venture out much - it was soooo hot here (95+ all weekend). There were many indoor activities to keep us busy. Elliot has been perfecting his pulling up skills and he is slowly but surely getting the hang of eating finger food. We have started giving him Cheerios. If 5 make it to his mouth he is having a good night. It is so cute watch him concentrate.

Recipe for a Fun Weekend

For a fun weekend mix the following ingredients together and serve with a generous serving of sunshine: 120 mile road trip to Aunt Tasha's Bridal Shower, 1 full diaper bag, 2 cups of baby happiness, 8-10 lovey ladies, 1 trip to Costco, a pinch of playground equipment, and a generous helping of good music in the park
